Branding Raëlism

The identity of liberation

[ branding ]

This project centered on the rebranding of the Raëlian cult, with a focus on showcasing its liberated and open-minded ethos.

Embracing bold colors and striking contrasts, the branding exudes a vibrant energy reflective of the cult's philosophy. Integral to the design concept is the theme of cloning, a key value within Raëlism. This is manifested through the logo and graphics, which incorporate elements of repetition and duplication. Notably, the logo features diaresis found in the "ë" in Raëlism, symbolizing cloning, while the overall layout and color palette are based on cloned formulas, using repetitive numbers in the hex codes.

Through this cohesive approach, the branding captures the essence of Raëlism's principles while creating a visually compelling identity.

Understanding Raëlism

The Raëlian Movement is a UFO religion founded in 1974 by Maitreya Raël, who claimed to have encountered the Elohim, highly advanced extraterrestrial scientists who created life on Earth. The movement’s mission is two-fold: to spread the Message of the Elohim and to build their Embassy on Earth. Raëlians recognize the Elohim as our creators and embrace the practice of cloning as part of their philosophy. They advocate for a lifestyle based on pleasure and indulgence, with an open-minded approach to sexuality, universal truths, and personal expression. The movement unites those who seek knowledge and liberation, and since its inception, it has grown steadily, with over 130,000 members in more than 120 countries.

Cloning as our leading concept

Inspired by the diaresis found in the "ë" in Raëlism and staying true to our core concept, we defined our logo, two cloned circles. To develop our color palette, we utilized the HEX code system, adopting a unique formula where every color has a cloned format. This approach allowed for an infinite array of possibilities, variations, and combinations. Our design system, combined organic and geometric shapes, along with image cutouts, paired with three-color combinations and Helvetica Neue as our primary font. For composition, we divided the canvas into two equal parts and, in keeping with our concept, cloned it either vertically or horizontally, depending on the format's width. Finally, we used a grid to harmonize the elements. Through this process, we aim to express liberation, amusement, and pleasure.

This is the essence of Raëlism.
